Royal beat Trinity in Bradby Shield first leg [May 28 2011]

Royal beat Trinity by 33 points to 25 in the first leg of the 67th Bradby Shield rugby encounter played at Bogambara Stadium, Kandy today. The winners collected their points from two goals, two tries and three penalties while Trinity scored two goals, one try and two penalties.

Royal led 20-8 at the short whistle of referee D. Nimal. They scored two tries in the first half and both were converted. In addition, they also put over two penalties. In contrast, the solitary try scored by Trinity in the first half went unconverted. But Trinity played a better game in the second half and a rich harvest of 17 points.
