A man, who had a Rs. 5,000 fake note in his possession, had been taken into custody by the Kurunegala police . The detection was made near the petrol filling station at Dambulla.
Further investigations revealed the suspect had set on fire to the computer and printer which were used to print the note. The Kurunegala police had sought the advice of the CID regarding the forged note.
