Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has appointed a three-member panel headed by the Director General of the Sports Medicine Institute Dr. Greethanjana Mendis, to investigate into the positive dope testing of Sri Lanka cricketer Upul Thranga.

The other members of the panel are Udaya R. Senevirathne and Consultant Surgeon Dr. Maiya Gunasekara. It was reported that the Sri Lanka opener was tested for a banned substance during the recent World Cup tournament. However, Tharanga’s ‘B’ urine sample testing result is yet to be known.
