Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police N.K. Illangakoon is tipped to fill the vacancy of IGP after the retirement of Mohan Balasuriya today.
Sources said Senior DIG Illangakoon is the senior most in the Sri Lanka Police Department after IGP Balasuriya’s decided to call it a day. IGP Balasuriya tendered his retirement papers today to President after the Katunayaka incident and the unruly incidents which followed at the FTZ.
