Over 70% of the ex- LTTE cadres reunited within a year and half [June 02 2011]

Over 70 percent of the ex- LTTE cadres reintegrated back into the society with in a year and half of ending the final battle in May 2009, it was revealed at the three day international seminar organized by the Sri Lanka Army . The Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Maj. Gen Sudantha Ranasinghe said that Sri Lanka would be the worlds first success story on rehabilitation.

The are 4,301 ex-LTTEers are now undergoing rehabilitation in state run rehabilitation centres. All child soldiers have been reintegrated with their families and are  continuing their formal education, he said.

According to Maj. Gen. Ranasinghe, out of those who sat for the university entrance examination two got selected to do medicine, one to the engineering faculty and ten to do arts and commerce degrees.
