A woman pillion rider was killed and the motor cycle rider was seriously injured when a lorry traveling from Chilaw to Colombo knocked down the motor cycle from behind in the Wennapuwa area. The injured woman succumbed to her injuries at the Negombo hospital. The deceased woman was identified as H. Donna Hilda Anestesia, 52 years old, a resident of Dewala-watte Bellana Ganemulle. The injured man is receiving treatment at the Negombo hospital. Police have taken the lorry driver into custody.
