Firefighters have brought a major fire at Kerawalapitiya under control and there is no further danger whatsoever to adjoining projects, including the power plant.
The fire has broken out at a rubber manufacturing plant in Kerawalapitiya situated close to the Kerawalapitiya Thermal Power Plant. The Colombo Fire Brigade (CFB), which immediately rushed several teams, brought the situation under control.
A spokesperson for the CFB said there was no danger or damage to the Kerawalapitiya power plant.
