Collecting details on civilians living in Jaffna Peninsular has been stopped as the government census covering the entire island is to commence soon, Jaffna Security Forces Commander Mahinda Hathurusinghe said.
He said the registering process was carried out on the request of the people to identify those involved in some of the crimes took place some months ago.
Meanwhile, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has also withdrawn the petition filled at the Supreme Court on registering civilians in the North.
They had a discussion with Maj.Gen. Hathurusinghe on several issues including the registration process.
