President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed confidence in finding a solution to the grievances of the people in the North and the East through a Parliamentary Select Committee.  At a meeting with the media heads held at Temple Trees today, the President said it will be the Parliament that will have to pass necessary legislation on whatever the solution to the problems faced by the people living in the two provinces.

“I am only the Executive President and the power to pass such amendments belongs to the Parliament. Hence, I could only support whatever the solution recommended by the Select Committee and passed by the Parliament,” the President said.
