A fire that erupted yesterday evening in a forest reservation at Sigiriya had destroyed 500 Kaya plants, planted by the Forest Conservation Department two and a half years ago in a 25-30 acre land.
No deaths or injuries were reported according to police. The fire was brought under control by area residents along with the Dambulla police. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Dambulla police.
