A woman working at a privately owned bus depot at Ingiriya was stabbed to death by her lover following an argument she had with him. The injured woman later succumbed to her injuries while being treated at the Horana government hospital, the Police Media Spokesman SP, Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer.
Police identified the deceased as K.M. Shriyani (27) a resident of Dambulluwana Kahawatte in the Ratnapura area. Both the deceased and the accused have been employees of Bera Bus company. An illicit love affair between them led to the tragedy, police said. A post mortem examination will be held shortly. Ingiriya police is investigating the homicide. (JJ)
