The Chief Engineer of a cargo ship, an Ukrainian national was found dead on board the ship yesterday. The deceased have been identified as Baranov Mickorella, the Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the “Sunday Observer.”
The Chief Engineers body was found on board the cargo ship, transporting a consignment of rice from Singapore to Nigeria. The ship had been registered in the Marshal Island. The body was later brought to the Galle Harbour after the foreign ship agent had informed the Galle police. The Assistant JMO who held the postmortem examination has given an open verdict. The body have been handed over to a local funeral parlour to be sent to Ukraine. The Galle police is investigating the sudden death.
