Attack on Uthayan News editor: IGP hands over report to President

<p>The Police Chief, IGP N.K. Illangakoon has submitted the interim report on the attack on the Uthayan News editor to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

 
<p>Gnanasundaram Kuganathan, the news editor was attacked by an unidentified gang with iron bars. He was traveling along the Navalar Road in Jaffna on Friday.

<p>The President has ordered the IGP to carry out an investigation into the attack. The 55-year-old Kuganathan, who is in critical condition, is now treated at the Jaffna Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

<p>Director General of the Presidents media said only the initial report was handed over to the President and the Police would conduct further investigations.
