Asia's longest tusker is no more [August 03 2011]

Millangoda Raja, the Sri Lankan tusker believed to be having the longest pair of tusks in Asia, died this morning due to prolonged illness.

The tusker has been taken in to captivity in 1945 from Anamaduwa, Nawagaththegama and has been about 3 -4 years old, according to the Millangoda family records.

The tusks were approximately 8 feet long. The tusker participated in Kandy Esala prehera and several other religious pageants through out his lifetime.
