SLA confirms US aircraft entering Lanka’s sky [August 09 2011]

Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) confirmed on Tuesday that the US aircraft entered Sri Lankan air space. SLAF spokesperson Andrew Wijesooriya has told Xinhua that they were picked up on Sri Lanka's radars.

"I cannot say if it was a violation or not because that is a matter for the civil aviation authority. But the air force did pick the aircraft on our radars and the relevant officials were informed. The aircraft were in our airspace," Wijesooriya said.

The Sri Lankan government launched a special investigation last week after the country's radars picked up 10 U.S. fighter jets intruding into its airspace
