Australia thrash Sri Lanka by seven wickets [August 10 2011]

Australia crushed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their first one day international played under lights at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy today. Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka made only 191 all out in 41.1 overs withSuraj Randiv making a top score of 41.

In reply, Australia reached the target in style, scoring 192 for 3 in just 38.1 overs to go one up in the five-match ODI series between the two teams. Opener Shane Watson continued his fine form to score another blistering 69 off 51balls. Michael Clarke (53 n.o) and Ricky Ponting (53) too make valuable contribution towards Australia’s convincing win. The second ODI will be played at Suriyawewa International Stadium on Sunday.
