Jaffna Library gets rare collection of books [August 11 2011]

Families in the South have donated a rare collection of books to the Jaffna Library following a request made by the Security Forces Headquaters recently.

The donation coordinated by the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SF-J) included 1500 books on various disciplines such as a set of encyclopedia, novels, famous story books for children and a rare collection of educational books.

Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and staff officers of the Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna have made requests from various persons and organizations here and abroad to contribute to restore the Jaffna pubic library, once served as the oasis of knowledge to Jaffna intellectuals, in its former glory.

The latest donation by Vipula Wijeratne, Nilmini Jayasinghe and Menaka Jayasinghe of Nugegoda reached the Headquarters SF-J as a response to that request.
