The Pacific airlift rally, a biennial symposium/air exercise involving Pacific region nation air forces is scheduled to be held for the first time in Sri Lanka from August 22 to 26.
More than 200 officers and 20 troops from countries including Australia, Bangaldesh, Cambodia, Canada, India, Indonesia, USA, Pillippines, Newzealand and Vietnam will participate.
The rally aims to enhance military airlift interoperability and to build partnerships between nations in the pacific region, with a focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
Five countries are to participate in seven C130 aircraft in operations in the air limits between the Ratmalana and Ampara air force camps. An experiment on the use of parachutes in transportation will also take place.
