The Export Development Board (EDB) together with the Sri Lanka High Commission in London has organized a Road show and Business meetings for selected ICT BPO exporters from Sri Lanka .
Around 55 applications were received by the EDB and we plan to select 8-10 companies for the event to be held from November 8-10. in UK, said EDB Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka.
He said the companies together with the EDB will make a presentation on the potential of the ICT BPO sector in Sri Lanka at the awards ceremony of the National Outsourcing Association of UK. As the cream of the ICT sector in UK will be at the awards ceremony it is a tremendous opportunity for the country to showcase not only the opportunities in the ICT BPO sector but also the tourism as well as other items we export.
In addition the companies will participate at one to one business meetings with the top companies in the ICT BPO sector in the UK. Ratnayaka said that EDB will partly finance the road show and the meetings which is a reasonable amount while the cost of airfare and lodging will have to be borne by the individual companies.
This is a good opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to network with their counterparts in UK,promote their companies and build relationships, said the chairman. The high literate workforce and the conducive environment in the country as well asteh political stability will woo investors to Sri Lanka.
