The government aims to develop a network of cities and townships which are well connected with each other and rest of the world.
Colombo and other main cities are to be developed as green cities. Solid waste management, drainage and sewerage facilities, implementation of zoning plans, developing systematic transport facilities and minimizing traffic congestions are the main thrusts identified in urban sector.
