Sri Lanka bagged its second medal at the ongoing Junior Commonwealth Games in the UK today. Following its success on the previous day where sprinter KUmari Ratnayake won women’s 400m silver medal, Sri Lanka’s badminton team secured a bronze medal in women’s doubles.
In the play off for the third place in women’s doubles, Sri Lanka’s Upuli Rathnasiri and Achini Samanthika paired well to beat their Australian opponents in a closely contested tussle 21 - 12, 16 - 21, 21 – 16. Sri Lanka’s medals chances in men’s 400m freestyle swimming event too looks bright.
