Sri Lanka warned IC beforehand, Samarasinghe tells UNHRC [September 12 2011]

Minister and Special Human Rights Envoy Mahinda Samarasinghe said that Sri Lanka warned the international community of the work undertaken by the remnants of the LTTE abroad to tarnish the image of the country. He told the 19th UNHRC sessions in Geneva today that the warning was made well before the end of the battle against terrorism.

“The anti-Sri Lankan diaspora is magnifying the false allegations in an attempt to exert pressure on Sri Lanka. Even so the government wants to through engagement involve these factions in the reconciliation process of Sri Lanka,” he said.
