Jaffna gets hi speed broadband connectivity [September 17 2011]

Sri Lanka telecom will launch phase 1 of i -Sri Lanka project under the theme “One nation one sound” in Jaffna on 19th Monday to provide hi-speed communication facilities, Government infornation Department said

Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya will inaugurate  the launch of stronger communication links between the North and South. SLT intends expanding its coverage of fixed line network to the North bringing even more customers within the reach of high speed broadband and its other services.

The i-Sri Lanka Project targeting high speed broadband connectivity to all its fixed-line customers, will enhance, upgrade and expand the fiber optic network in the island, bringing it closer to customers through fiber node. The resultant of this being a significant increase in reliability, quality and broadband data speeds together with several other benefits such as low maintenance and replacement costs.
