‘Concerned’ about Lankan issues – Australian PM [October 21 2011]

Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard says that they too are concerned about the issues raised by Britain and Canada, calling for an international war crimes tribunal on Sri Lanka.

She said this when asked by media if she would publicly call for an international war crimes tribunal on Sri Lanka, following the lead of Canada and Britain.

“Sri Lanka itself is going through its own internal processes on lessons learned and reconciliation which will report after the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.” she told Radio Australia during an interview.

Australia is preparing to host next week’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.
