President off to Australia

<P>President Mahinda Rajapaksa left for Australia today to attend the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting to be held in Perth from October 28 to 30.

It is an important meeting for Sri Lanka as Colombo is due to host the next. CHOGM in 2013. President Rajapaksa will will be the Chair-in of the Commonwealth from 2013 to 2015.
