Congressional briefing on post-conflict Sri Lanka [October 22 2011]

The Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Sri Lanka, in conjunction with the Embassy of Sri Lanka will held a Congressional Briefing on Post-Conflict Sri Lanka on November 2 focusing on Sri Lanka’s efforts towards post-conflict reconciliation, rehabilitation and resettlement in the 28 months since the defeat of the LTTE.

The briefing will begin with the screening of "Lies Agreed Upon -- An Investigative Documentary into the final days of the Sri Lankan conflict," a film which addresses the allegations made by a recent video produced by a British TV station (Channel 4).

Recently screened to wide acclaim in the Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, “Lies Agreed Upon” sheds light on the true story of what happened during the Sri Lankan Armed Forces humanitarian operation to free the country from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

After the film, a panel of U.S.-based experts on Sri Lanka will discuss ongoing efforts in Sri Lanka to work through the post-conflict development phase and reconciliation efforts.
