Divi Neguma agriculture program kicked off today [October 27 2011]

The second phase of the Divi Neguma agriculture program aimed to establish 2.1 million economic units to promote domestic agriculture to make families self-sufficient, has comemnced to day.

The first program under the second phase was launched from the Obawatte village in the Biyagama Divisional Secretariat Division, by the Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Nearly 150 families in each Grama Niladari division are selected for the program and each household is given five varieties of vegetable seeds free of charge.

 Minister Rajapaksa said the first phase launched in March 2011 targeting one million families was a huge success.
