Heavy raids result in drop in drug menace

<p>The Police said the constant raids and arrests have resulted in a sharp drop in the drug menace.

<p>Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that over 50,070 kg of drugs have been seized during the raids carried out by the Police Narcotics Unit, the Customs Department, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Excise Department, Prison Officials, Navy and the Police STF.

<p>He said over 23 kgs of heroin, 18 kgs of Hashish and 10 kgs of Cocaine have been seized. The amount of marijuana seized from January to October is 50,000 kgs .

<p>According to the Police Spokesman, 3800 suspects have been arrested for drug related offences.
