Over 46 people killed by lightening from January to October and nine deaths reported only in the month of October, this year, said the Meteorology Forecaster, the Department of Meteorology, Chaminda de Silva.
"Though we continuously do public awareness programs to educate people to prevent from lightening and many other damages which can be occurred due to heavy rain falls, most of the deaths occurred mainly because of the negligence of general public. Therefore, we advice the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages that can cause of lightening, he said.
