Nine people have been killed and dozens more have been injured due gale winds and floods on yesterday. Gale-force winds ripped through several places in the southern districts of Matara and Galle, damaging more than 1,000 houses.
According to the Disaster Management Center (DMC) over 50 people have been injured and over 6,000 people have been affected.
