President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed the officials to provide urgent relief to the people affected by heavy rains and winds, Presidents Media said.
At a meeting held with the officials of the relevant authorities at the Temple Trees to discuss the immediate measures need to be taken to provide relief to the people affected by the heavy rains and winds in southern coastal areas he stressed the importance of securing the public from natural disasters and also discussed the need of a proper insurance scheme to compensate the damaged houses.
