Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya MP today confirmed that he would accept the invitation extended by the Reformists Group to contest for the leadership of the UNP. Jayasuriya said that he has decided to honour numerous requests for him to contest for the post of leader of the United National Party.
“I have decided to contest for the party leadership with the intension of saving the party and uniting it. It is a pledge I made to all those who have asked me,” a statement by Jayasuriya said today.
