Opposition Leader and UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe said today that Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya has not informed him that the latter would contest for the leadership of the United National Party.
Wickremasinghe’s reactions came after UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya declared earlier today that he would contest for the party leadership at the next Working Committee elections. But the Opposition Leader stated that nothing regarding the party leadership could be discussed in the upcoming Working Committee meeting.
Wickramasinghe said the cause of action to be taken against UNP parliamentarian Mohan Lal Grero, who crossed over to the government last week, will be discussed at the next WC meeting. He added that no amendments are to be made to the party constitution in the near future.
