Six more asylum seekers return from Australia [February 09 2013]

Six more Sri Lankan asylum seekers, who had reached Australia illegally by boat, have opted to return home voluntarily.

Accordingly, Australian authorities repatriated the six Lankan men to Colombo last week on a flight from Perth, following their transfer from mainland detention sites, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship said.

A spokesman of the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship said, “They chose not to pursue their asylum claims and no longer seek to engage Australia’s protection obligations.”
