<P>Japanese assistance for Northern projects

<P>A meeting with JICA representatives was held under the Chairmanship of Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri at his sub-office in Battaramulla recently.

<P>A project is to be implemented to develop the infrastructure of 10 villages in each district. 

<P>This project will focus on drinking water supply, road development, renovation of tanks and irrigation, access roads to tanks, inland fishing and micro-credit facilities for farming. Chief Secretary of the Northern Province R. Wijialudchumi and others took part in the discussion.
