Pakistani journalist nabbed with heroin [May 28 2013]

Excise Narcotic Bureau nabbed a Pakistani national along with a bag of heroin worth Rs.5million in Orugodawatta last night.

The suspect who is reportedly a journalist attached to a news agency in Pakistan had travelled to Sri Lanka several times and the contraband is believed to have been smuggled in during one of those trips.

Excise Spokesman Superintendent Prabath Jayawickreme said the suspect who had been married to a woman in Lahore is also married to a local woman in Panadura.

He was arrested while attempting to hand over the contraband to a third party. The Excise sleuths also found three media identity cards in his possession.
