Mother and daughter run over by car [May 29 2013]

A 47-year-old mother and her 09-year-old daughter were killed when a speeding car run over them in Baduwatta – Pilessa area in Mawathagama yesterday, police said.

The victims identified as mother Ramani Jayasinghe and daughter Shamali Sumaya were waiting outside their house when a speeding car losing its control had stormed into the compound.

They were rushed to Kurunegala Hospital but succumbed to their injuries up on admission. The driver of the car was taken into custody.
