A Buddhist monk in Moronthuduwa was hospitalised last night after being assaulted by a man who suspected that the former is hiding his son, police said.
An enraged father who was looking to punish his son had suspected that the monk is hiding him in the temple. The man armed with a wooden bar along with two others had assaulted the monk in the head and fled the scene.
He was admitted to Panadura Hospital and the three men were arrested by the police. The child had reportedly fled home due to the fear of his father but had never gone to the temple.
