Navy dispatches three ships in search of missing fishing boats [June 08 2013]

Sri Lanka Navy dispatched three Navy ships Jaya Sagara, from Galle and Sayura and Nandimitra from Colombo in search of the fishing boats went missing from Southern,Western and South Western coastal belt, Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.

He said that the Navy received requests from the fishermen in Galle, Beruwala, Moratuwa, and Dehiwala seeking the Navy assistance to locate the fishing boats and fishermen went missing due to strong winds.

“Since small boats cannot be deployed for this purpose the Navy had to deploy these three ships for this operation,” he added.
