Army chief promoted

<p>Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya has been promoted to the rank of General, states the Army media.  

<p>General Jayasuriya took over duties as the Army Commander on July 15, 2009. He has served as the Security Forces Commander (Wanni) since 2007 prior being appointed as the Army  Commander.  

<p>General Jayasuriya is the ninteenth Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
