New Army Commander Lt. Gen. Daya Rathnayake [June 14 2013]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, as the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, have appointed Major General Daya Rathnayake as the new Army Commander. He will be taking over his duties from August 01, according to the Presidential Spokesman Mohan Samaranayake.

Maj. General Daya Ratnayake with the new appointment is promoted in the rank to Lieutenant General.

He served as the Armys chief of staff since 2010. He was the Commissioner General for Rehabilitation prior to his appointment as the Chief of Staff.
