A Lieutenant Colonel and a Corporal attached to the Commando Regiment died while a Major sustained injuries when the Land Rover they were travelling in crashed in to an electricity tower along Thabbowa Tank in Karuwalagaswewa area this morning.
The group were reportedly heading to Ganemulla Commando Headquarters from Killinochchi when the vehicle had veered off the road and crashed.
Police said the vehicle must have lost its control due to the excessive speed it was travelling.
