<P>Student arrested for stabbing female lecturer

<P>A law student of the Open University Colombo who stabbed a female lecturer was arrested by Mirihana Police today.  


<P>The student who is also a medical doctor is said to have stabbed his lecturer when the latter had refused to accept his assignment after the due date, police said. 

<P>The victim Yashodhara Kadiragamarthambi, Head of Open University Law Faculty had been admitted to National Hospital Colombo in a critical condition.  


<P>The suspect was also admitted to Colombo South General Hospital (Kalubowila) for taking some unknown tablets.  


<P>A tense situation prevailed in the university premises following the incident.
