A special mobile service to issue National Identity Cards, Birth Certificates and other identification documents to civilians who dont posses them will be held in Kilinochchi from July 9 to 11.
The mobile service will be held in Sankadapuram Shopping Complex on July 9, at the Karachchi Divisional Secretariat on July 10 and at the Vaddakatchchi Divisional Secretariat on July 11.
According to the 2012 voters list there are 85, 000 people without the NIC and the majority is unable to obtain this document without having their Birth Certificate.
This clinic is jointly organized by the Department of Registration of Persons, Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE) and the Centre for Human Rights and Research.
