China to invest in wind power generation [July 08 2013]

China will assist Sri Lanka to launch a wind power generation project. Meeting the Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa today the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wu Jiang hao have revealed about the new project China intends to invest in.

Plans will be drawn up to establish wind power generation systems in rural areas in the vicinity of paddy fields. Under this plan multipurpose wind power generation towers will be built to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during peak hours. This system would also help to reduce maintenance costs of transmitters.

Ambassador Wu Jiangho has told the Minister that a top level team of investors from China is scheduled to visit this country to explore the possibility of investing in the development of areas such as infrastructure facilities and agriculture.
