Ravindu Gunawardena, son of remanded DIG Vaas Gunawardena was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate A M Shahabdeen today, who ordered the CID to detain the suspect for 24 hours for questioning.
Ravindu and another who claimed to be his bodyguard were arrested by the CID while hiding in a house in Pepiliyana yesterday morning.
The suspect who was wanted in connection with the abduction and murder of businessman Mohamed Siyam had been evading police for few weeks.
The second suspect Dimuth Hettiarachchi was ordered to be remanded until August 14.
