President Mahinda Rajapaksa today ordered that the controversy surround Dipped Products Glove factory in Rathupaswala, Weliweriya to be relocated to a BOI zone.
The President ordered this following a discussion held with the representatives of the residents of Weliweriya and the authorities looking into the water crisis in the area this afternoon.
New guidelines were also set up in constructing factories in the future where they have to be limited within BOI zones and not in residential areas.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Social Services Minister Felix Perera, Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Defense and Urban Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Gampaha District Parliamentarians, Western Provincial Council members, senior military officials were present at the discussion.
