At least two women were killed and nine others sustained serious injuries when the vehicle they were travelling collided against a tree on Anuradhapura – Kurunegala Road in Thambuttegama this morning.
The group was reportedly bound for Anuradhapura on a pilgrimage from Bandaragama, the police spokesman said.
Six of the injured were rushed to Anuradhapura Hospital while three others were admitted to Thambuttegama Hospital.
