A 76-year-old man and his daughter were brutally hacked with sharp objects in Kiribathgoda last night where the latter succumbed to her wounds, the police said.
The duo were staying at their house in Weeriyawetiya, Kelaniya when an unidentified gang had allegedly hacked them over unknown reason.
They were admitted to Ragama Hospital by the neighbours but the daughter identified as Kumudini Galapaththi (48) died soon after the admission. The father had later been transferred to National Hospital Colombo for further treatment.
Kiribathgoda Police investigating into the case have apprehended two persons on suspicion.
