A Bangladeshi Buddhist monk who was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted by an unknown group succumbed to his injuries this morning at the National Hospital Colombo.
The Bhikkhu named Buraawa aged 28 was found collapsed on the grounds of Sudarshanaramaya in Kalapaluwawa on August 20 night, the police said.
He was being treated for over a week in a critical condition and the wounds were suspected to be of an assault.
Welikada Police are conducting inquiries and the perpetrator suspects behind the alleged assault is yet to be apprehended.
